Candlelit Flow

Candlelit Flow

This is the practice Lotus is known for. The room is candlelit, the sequence is continuous, and on most nights of the week singing bowls play underneath it. Eight of these run every week, more than any other family of classes here.

Who it is for. Anyone. Every class in this group is written for all experience levels, so it is a fair first hot class as well as a regular one.

Singing bowls and candlelight during a sound vibration class

Plain english

What the words actually mean

You do not need to know any of this to walk in. It is here so the schedule reads like a timetable instead of a foreign language.

Vinyasa

Vinyasa means the flowing movement between postures, with each change linked to a breath. A vinyasa class is a continuous sequence rather than a series of separate holds.

Asana

Asana is simply the word for a yoga posture. You will see it used interchangeably with pose.

Sound vibration

Sound vibration means singing bowls played during the practice. The tones are used to deepen relaxation and settle the mind.

Before you come

The heat, and what to bring

The room runs between 95 and 102 degrees and classes are 50 to 60 minutes. Doors open 20 minutes before, and the studio asks you to arrive 10 minutes early so your body can adjust to the heat. Classes start on time and the doors lock at the start, so there is no late admittance.

The room

Far infrared heat, between 95 and 102 degrees. It warms you rather than the air, so it feels radiant instead of stifling.
